After reading all of the responses: The semi-colon (at the end of every single line) should be omitted. Someone said it best when they noted that it looks unnatural at the end of some lines. It will be forgotten and will cause recompile after recompile. Get rid of the GOTOs. It is better for the progression of the language. How many programmers taught in RPG IV maintain RPG II? How many of you had to eliminate OCLs, remember the statements that had to be converted to FMTDTA or OPNQRYF? If a program is written with GOTOs correctly, it probably won't take that much effort to convert it. Replace the GOTOs with an ITER, invert the IF statement and add a DO loop most likely. If a program is written with GOTOs incorrectly, it probably needs to be redesigned (in RPG V without the GOTOs).
