I'm surprised it wasn't brought to our attention by the folks in Toronto,
since so much of the early discussions took place on this very list.

As usual, you've expressed it much better than could have. :)

If I had to choose, mine would be the reverse. Java has taught me what a
royal pain ";" and curly braces truly are.

I don't know about that. So far, nothing has been heard from Hans or
Barbara. I get the distinct impression that, as far as they're concerned,
the discussion was over before it ever began.
