hey ron, when u want to use a variable in the dimension, u can specify it as the number of elements of a like array. And i think DIM can take %elem or a numeric constant and not a variable for a value. D like_array S like(arr1d) dim(%elem(arr1d)) Thanks From: Klein Ron <ron.klein@brctsg.com> Reply-To: RPG400-L@midrange.com To: "'RPG400-L (E-mail)" <RPG400-L@midrange.com> Subject: Variable dimension arrays Date: Wed, 1 Nov 2000 16:02:53 -0600 Hi All, I am trying to use a variable for my DIM statement. When I try to compile the program, I get an error that says the identifier is not recognized and it is defaulted to 1. It was my understanding that RPGILE allows for using a variable for defining the DIM in an array. Did I misunderstand that or am I doing something wrong. We are at V4R2.
