I have successfully used constants. I believe this is possible because the constant has been defined at compile time. I question whether a true variable will be able to be used since the number of elements in the array must be know at compile time. * Maximum Size to Define Data Structures and Arrays for Program * Equals the number of Field Elements in the Data Structure D MaxDsSize C Const(141) D DateDsName S Dim(MaxDsSize) Like(In2Field) * Array of Pointers to each Field in DateDS Data Structure D DateDsPtr S * Dim(MaxDsSize) Klein Ron <ron.klein@brctsg To: "'RPG400-L (E-mail)" .com> <RPG400-L@midrange.com> Sent by: cc: owner-rpg400-l@mi Subject: Variable dimension arrays drange.com 11/01/2000 04:02 PM Please respond to RPG400-L Hi All, I am trying to use a variable for my DIM statement. When I try to compile the program, I get an error that says the identifier is not recognized and it is defaulted to 1. It was my understanding that RPGILE allows for using a variable for defining the DIM in an array. Did I misunderstand that or am I doing something wrong. We are at V4R2.
