Mike,

namefmt is an AS/400 FTP server command; non-AS/400 FTP clients don't
understand it.  What you have to do is use:

        quote site namefmt 1

I just tried that from the NT 4 FTP client and the AS/400 duly responded
with:

        250  Now using naming format "1".
