FIrst I have to say, there is no dumb question here....if you don't understand something about RPG, this list is the place to turn. Ask the question or send your comments, even if you think they are 'fairly dumb'..... >When I write an RPGIV I always use type of RPGLE to have the extended C > spec, etc. Do I not have to use the LE? If not, how else do I access the D > and extended C specs? I'm afraid I literally haven't had time to read the > RedBooks. No internet at work, heck no PC for that matter, just a dumb > terminal! There are some excellent Red Books on the subject, but it sounds like you need to first understand the ILE programming concepts. Programming using the ILE concepts is different then programming using the RPGIV language. A good overview of both the ILE concepts and the use of the RPGIV language is the redbook 'Who Knew You Could Do That with RPG IV? A Sorcerer's Guide to System Access and More' (# SG24-5402-00) and 'ILE RPG for AS/400 Programmer's Guide' (# SC09-2507-01). They cost about $20 and $10 respectively. > > Thanks, > Kathy > > +--- > | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! > | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. > | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. > | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. > | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com > +--- +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
