I remember a thread on midrange-l for this so the answer may be there, if 
none of the suggestions so far work.

I've had to do this once before also  - as I recall it I used qshell and 
the del command with an appropriate generic selection mask to delete the 
file but nothing else. Obviously save everything first ! <g>
