Tim, I had a similar situation with my CGI program. When the user selected an option, it created a print-out which I needed to locate and process. In my case the JobName was QPRTJOB and the user was QTMHHTTP. To process the report, I did not need to know the job number - the JobName and user was enough. Try running your process specifying *N as the job number. It worked for me.
