Jim, You'll need to make the printer file USROPN, code some variation of command line support (QCAEXEC, QCMDEXC, C 'System' function, etc) to issue your override, then OPEN. I prefer the C runtime 'System' function, as it appears to issue the override at the same call level as the RPGIV program that is issuing the override. This negates having to specify the override scope parm. If you'd like a sample, contact me directly. eric.delong@pmsi-services.com ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Override printer file in RPG IV? Author: <RPG400-L@midrange.com> at INET_WACO Date: 7/10/00 9:24 AM I have an aging report I am rewriting from RPG III to RPG IV. One of the files I am opening is a program described printer file. I call this file AGINGRPT so the file name makes sense when the users look in their spool files. But, we n't have an actual printer file called that, I am over riding to a printer file calledTY2K/PRINTER. Is there a way I can do this in RPG IV so I don't have to wrap this in a CL?
