The ENDSR is factor 1 is just like a TAG. You can GOTO or CABxx to an
ENDSR. We use it as a way to exit a subroutine all over the place. I do
not know if you can GOTO or CABxx to a BEGSR label. Never tried that one.

Subject: a little bit of confusion

I am trying to visually debug a vendor's program. I have come across a
situation that I am unfamiliar with, and can use some assistance. This is a
code extract:

        WRTREC BEGSR

                        [do some process]

                        GOTO WRTR99

                        [do some process]

        FIELDA CABEQ WRTR99

                        [do some process]

        WRTR99 ENDSR

1. I have never seen a case where the Factor 1 value for BEGSR is different
than the Factor 1 value for the ENDSR. Is this not strange?2. Also, I am
familiar with GOTO (but don't use it) and CABEQ. However, I thought that
both GOTO and CABEQ were supposed to be associated with TAG. There is not
tag named WRTR99 anywhere in the source. Can GOTO and CABEQ be used with the
factor 1 value for BEGSR or ENDSR?

Thanks in advance for your help.
