That can be said for any editor, even SEU. Whatever productivity gains
you may find with the ability to cut and paste you still lose time when
trying to correctly position RPG source. Yes, if you are writing C++ on
a 400 or some other non-positional language then your gains make the use
of a PC editor worthwhile. However, the fact that RPG (currently) is not
a free form language makes SEU the best man for the job. The day someone
gives me a low cost editor with promptable source records on the PC I
will switch too.

Once again, the fact that IBM has given up doesn't mean that we should
all resign it to the killing floor. I feel sure that given time,
resources, and SOURCE SEU could be made to duplicate what you can do on
a PC and still maintain all the great things about SEU. What does a PC
editor really do for you; open multiple files (EMACS a character based
editor does this), cut and paste (EMACS, EDIT and other text based
editors do this), spell checking, search and replace? Are you trying to
tell me that SEU couldn't do these things? 
Face facts, the only reason IBM has given up on these utilities is that
the AS/400 is not the cash cow their other boxes are. Don't try to tell
me that all programmers want a GUI interface on their editors, if that
were true EMACS, JOE, VI (in its many flavors) and PICO would not still
be in active development. The fact is that if you can perform a task
without removing your hands from the keyboard your overall productivity
is increased.
