I've chained to a non-keyed PF by RRN when the file is not unique keyed and
an update/delete option was chosen as a subfile option. (We hide the RRN in
the subfile record when we load it. hee hee hee.)

Actually you can. I've found that chaining to an unkeyed Physical file by
relative record number is a very attractive solution when I am using several
views of the same file in a subfile.

You can't 'chain' to a file unless it is keyed.

The beauty of chaining is that the file need not be in any particular
sequence. Nor is it necessary for the 'key field' be in any particular
order.

Maybe you need to rephrase the question. I don't really understand
what it is you want to do.

Hi

I need to chain a field in a file(non-keyed) with a field in another
file(multiple keyed), but having different keyed sequence. Creating a new
logical file is not allowed. Can you help me out?
