I hear you, and agree completely. That's why I don't feel the least bit guilty for padding the time on a project that is not terribly pressing, and using part of it's time to enhance some service programs with some procedures that I know we are going to need sometime or something like that. If you tried to get that approved as a formal project, it would always be shot down, but just today I had a need for a procedure on an emergency fix that would have been very difficult to come up with under pressure, but fortunately, I had already written it a couple of months ago. I knew it would come in handy sometime.
