>>I want to ignore that (duplicate record) message and continue in the next record. How about something like this: INSERT INTO filea (fielda, fieldb, fieldc) SELECT fielda, fieldb, fieldc FROM fileb EXCEPT SELECT fielda FROM filea This says that if the record is not already in the target file (filea) then insert it. This is the equivalent of an exception join but I don't think you can do an INSERT that way. If you are doing a cursor select with a FETCH, try trapping the error with the *PSSR subroutine. That will probably work like a monmsg in cl does. +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
