No solution, but some hints that may help: Check the stations that the data stream passes. - You can check, whether the spooled file contains your escape sequence or not. Display it with DSPSPLF, and check the locks of this job. You'll find a lock on a PF in QSPL. Find out the members name, too. You can DSPPFM this member. You should see your escape sequence in there. <***WARNING***> Never access these files with selfmade programs. </***WARNING***> - You can set up the printer to hex dump the incoming data stream. There you should find your inserted sequence. BUT: If you are successful in inserting ASCII transparent escape sequences, you might damage the rest of the output. Most people want to change fonts this way. Then columns start moving around on the paper, as the AS/400 cannot react on such sequences in a spooled file. If you do not need (much) of the IPDS functionality, you can create a DEVTYPE(*USERASCII) spooled file. This has to be a PCL data stream (in ASCII), this is sent to the printer as it is. You can use all functions of the printer. But there are many disadvantages: Your printing program easily becomes unreadable, only people who speak PCL can change the program, you have to translate everything to ASCII, etc. 0.02 Euro -- Anton Gombkötö +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
