I would like to send PCL commands to a HP laserjet (over TCP/IP) - setup as an
IPDS printer. It seems that which ever way I create the printer file (via
RPGILE) the OS seems to convert the escape code (27, x1B) and any other
unprintable characters to a minus when printed or displayed on the screen.

I have used the trick of prefixing the hex commands with the ATRN command and
trying CVTDTA/TRNSPY in the DDS, in addition to stating that no character
replacement should be done on the PRTF. I've run out of ideas!!

Can anybody help?
