The LDA (the Local Data Area) associated with your job, can only be 
updated/changed for the period that you have signed onto the system for.
For example:-
Sign onto the system 09:00 a.m.
Process command
                DSPDTAARA DTAARA(*LDA) 
the local data area will be displayed - - - filled with spaces.
Process command
          CHGDTAARA DTAARA(*LDA (1 10)) VALUE(ABCDEFGHIJ) 
followed with
                DSPDTAARA DTAARA(*LDA) 
the local data area will be displayed - - - filled with ABCDEFGHIJ in the first 
10 .
Signoff
Sign on 
Process command
                DSPDTAARA DTAARA(*LDA) 
the local data area will be displayed - - - filled with spaces.
