Booth,
Thanks. For whatever reason, I was told by the bank programmer that
we could not do FTP. However, he said that he can accept (and many of their
customers are sending) a PC text file. Because I don't have the time right
now to research (yes, this is one of those poorly planned, I need it now
type projects), we will probably dial in using Hyperterminal and send the
bank a .txt file.

Bill

Bill, I did this a couple of years ago. We chose FTP to deliver the files
on a regular basis to Wachovia. Basically, I made a program-described
file with fully edited numeric fields and the left-side minus sign edit
codes. Every night the AS/400 looks for that file in a particular library,
and any files found are FTP'd to Wachovia's site. We aren't using ICF or
the IFS. So far as I know, it is still running every night.

I am needing to do some ICF processing to send a file to Wachovia bank. I
have not previously done any ICF processing. I am using V4R4 and have
downloaded the necessary manuals.

Do I need an IBM communications package installed on the AS/400 (maybe IBM
Communication Utilities 5769-CM1 or another one)? If anyone is doing ICF
and
can answer this quesition, I would really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Bill Graziano
