John, >I believe there IS a way to define every key as an AID key. We use a >product called laservault which uses single commands on their green >screen interface. for example press ? and a help screen pops up. Sorry, that is different. Any entry field can be defined to "auto record advance" using AUTO(RA) or the preferred "check end of record" with CHECK(ER). When the field is filled, it can then cause an implicit Enter key. For a one-character field that doesn't also require Field Exit, you'd get the scenario you described above. However, that would only affect input fields and still would not affect cursor keys. Try it -- start laservault and press an arrow key instead of ? or one of their commands. I don't have laservault, but I'd be willing to bet that is what is happening. The keystrokes are really not even trappable when you switch the controller from data processing mode to word processing mode. There are a number of additional things that can be done, but you still can't be notified of each keystroke event. Of course, now that we know more about what Jaydeep wanted, we know he is more interested in finding out about mouse clicks than cursor keystrokes. This is best done by adding MOUBTN(*ULP CFxx) or another AID key in place of the CFxx. Then just get the cursor position from the INFDS, from DDS keyword RTNCSRLOC() variables, or even via DSM.
