The common mistake I see is trying to concat two character fields to one where the sum of the length of the two is greater that the result field. Try: Eval Result = %triml(source1) + ' ' + source2 where source1 = 30 char = 'This is ' source2 = 30 char = 'the result ' Result = 40 Char and you want 'This is the result ' but get 'This is the result' when you Eval Result = source1 + source2 If your source strings are not left justified or you are unsure, use the %trim() to get rid of all the leading and trailing blanks. Warning, on large strings the %trim can take a lot of CPU. Christopher K.
