That's why my philosophy has always been that an end user should never see a
function check.  The program should log it's errors and end softly.  You can
have a self-healing application if you monitor the log and correct the
defects without waiting for a user to call.  Experience has taught me that
users will call in problems less than 50% of the time.

It's amazing how many times people will answer error messages without
calling for support.
