Title: scrub data during subfile load

I am loading a subfile with 70 byte strings of data from another PC.  Sometimes the data is hex 02, which gives me the following error:

What is an easy way to change any characters below hex 40 to spaces?  Is looping thru the string the only method?  Will XLATE work?
