Most library organisation schemes revolve around the twin needs of security and backup. Source change management / object version control can add a twist as well. If you have a need to be able to back up and restore the source separately from the object code, then it makes sense to split the source into another library. The same consideration holds true for security. Why would YOU need to keep the source separate from the object? Here, we keep the source and object together in the development system because we need to keep them secured, backed up and versioned together. We only send object code out to the production environment.
