Nice idea, but i think it's leading to a dead end. Of course, a command is a convenient method to call a program, but it does more. Parameters can be validated and so on. Special values may be translated to other values. IBM would be fenced in, if we start to call the CPP's. IBM is and shall be free to change CPP's in any way they like; the command should be the same. If they add a new parameter, we do not have a problem with commands. We would with calling a CPP. The better solution for such RTV-tasks (and many other tasks!) are APIs. That's what IBM wants us to use. Performance is better and we can retrieve often much more info than the RTV-cmd's do show us.
