Dean is not the only one that saw no humor in your remark. Jokes
or sarcasm is difficult to understand in written text unless the
author tells us with something like a smily face or the reader
knows the author and understands thier personality.

As far as the larger picture. There has been some messages in the
past that were rather heavy-handed, but they are few and far between.
I have posted ideas to this list and to the parent list (midrange-l)
that were treated rather harshly. This did not bother me, rather it
was great crtitcism and I learned from them. I'll take learning over
bed-side manners every time.
