Chris,

If you're using the operational assist backup facility you can attach an
exit-program to the backup process using the CHGBCKUP command (last
parameter). The backup device is one of the parameters passed to the
exit-program, which is called both before and after the backup. If you're
interested I can email you a sample program documenting all the parameters.
