Having knowledge in a particular application is always a plus in hiring. All things being equal between two programmers we'll take the one with experience in the package we are using. You don't have to explain the file layouts, common routines, how they process information, etc. Adias@admin1.umaryland.edu on 12/03/99 08:06:51 AM Please respond to RPG400-L@midrange.com@Internet To: RPG400-L@midrange.com@Internet cc: Fax to: Subject: RE: Fixed Assets on AS/400 Just for my curiosity .... I know that JDEdwards is a very famous company producing wonderful software, am I correct? Then why when I see the adds in the paper or technical magazines looking for programmers, there is sometimes a mention about knowledge in JD Edwards Fixed Assets etc. What's so special about it? Is it so complex that by knowing it, you are considered a top notch RPG programmer? Why then the recruiters do not look for RPG programmers who graduated from IBM technical school or those with knowledge of MAPICS, DMAS, etc .... but why the emphasis is on JDEdwards software? No hard feelings ..... JD Edwards or IBM MAPICS fans!!!! Programmer/Analyst Armando G.
