As Bruce stated, the problem is the display type. The emulation needs to be
a terminal type that the AS/400 considers "graphical". 

I remember doing this using an example from the GDDM manual errr.. a long
time ago... using PC Support on a 38 and I emulated a 5292 (I think). Under
DOS. Using Twinax. 

See if you can find a model of screen that you can emulate on your PC that
displays graphics, or, see if you have a terminal that does graphics
somewhere and checked that it is configured correctly.
