Jim, >I am used to writing display files, and then just setting them as the >primary file and forgetting about them. >I seem to recall something about an EXFMT command (Execute format). I think you just exposed yourself as an ex-System36 programmer! ;-) Wow. I forgot all about C-P for workstn files until you just mentioned it. I'm not sure I could code my way around such a program now. As far as getting your workstation coding into the 90's <g>, by all means define workstation files as full-procedural and take advantage of being able to WRITE, READ, & EXFMT anywhere in your code's logic. The EXFMT is a combined WRITE then READ sequence of a given display format. Ummm, do you use subfiles at all? Can you use subfiles with Combined-Primary? (I can't imaging how...) If you're curious for more, refer to the RPG III User's Guide or RPG IV Programmer's Guide, both of which have an entire chapter devoted to workstation programming. - Dan Bale +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
