Licenses like the GPL and the BSD license are really better for programs or libraries. Code snippets should probably just be made public domain. Choosing a license for you programs is a process that I'm not going to go into here (It would take too long), but if you don't like the provisions of the GPL yet want your programs to be free (freedom-wise--you can still charge for them), look at a variant of the BSD license.
