You don't need to write "freeware" as a hobby.  Just look at
your own service programs that you use the most, and see if
they could be used by others.  Clean it up with some good
documentation, post it on some web page, announce it on this
mailing list, and voila - instant fame and glory in the AS/400
community!

Regarding IFS support - Has no-one tried to write a SPECIAL
file program for IFS reads and writes?  It seems like an
ideal use for SPECIAL files.
