>Have you ever had to skip a record and tried using "ITER" in your loop? I >also use the: >"IF EOF LEAVE" after the read at the top of the loop. It is easier when >you have a lot of code within the loop to ITER than to skip with an IF/ENDIF >or, should I dare say, GOTO. Agreed that having the initial read prior to >the loop and at the bottom of the loop gives the loop control to the loop >definition, but I like ITER/LEAVE myself. I used to code the way Brad suggests (CHAIN or SETLL with READ/READE outside the loop and then a READ/READE at the bottom of the loop) but have also switched to Chris's style since the introduction of the ITER op code. I've heard structure purists say that you should have a single I/O at the top of the loop rather than an I/O outside the loop and another at the bottom of the loop. I've never changed my style to match some theory, rather I will change when it makes the code easier to read/maintain.
