Why do define all your files internally?

The main thing that bugs me about KLISTs is that they are only valid for
externally described files.  Since we use only use our data base files
internally defined in RPG, we have to use data structures for compound
keys.
This becomes especially annoying when a field is used in more than one
compound key; we have to create extra copies of the field as well.  I
have
never really understood this limitation of KLISTs.
