I too have a system that is not secure. Management wanted the users not to
be able to query the personnel documentation data base. Level 20 security
makes it hard to restrict access so I created a translate table to mix up
the letters. A very simple op code jumbles the data enough for every day
users. Not true encryption, but perhaps all you need. Does anyone know if
IBM cryptographic application for communication has API's that can be called
to encrypt data prior to writing to the data base? That may also give you
what you need. Best bet is using OS400's security to restrict access to the
data and locking up backup tapes.

Good Luck,

Subject: SECURING THE DATABASE

I am working on a project that requires database to be encrypted.I would
like to know how to do encryption with R.P.G /400 . Can we implement
standard encryption algorithm as DES , IDEA , BLOWFISH..Some examples
would be of great help to me.
Thanking you in anticipation
