Data transfer

I am involved with a school that has been using an AS/400 (2.0.1) that been
very poorly maintained.  They are going to a software package for keeping
and maintaining their student records.  Half of the records on the AS/400
are in S/36 and the rest in 400.  They have a 1/4 inch Tape Unit 6348
00-4110454       4.   They just what to save the data and get it converted
to a text format to put into an Access database.  Because of the age of the
AS/400 and the size of the tape drive we hear more laugher when looking for
help than any useful suggestions.  The school is in Minnesota.  Does anyone
know of a company that does this sort of thing?  I've exhausted my little
circle connections and this is the last place I can think to ask.  I
apologize for this question not being strictly RPG related.
