One (lazy!) solution is to simply let the user key the data in the format 
that you need it printed in, i.e. a Canadian user would type in "B6B 4B3" 
and a US user would type in "12211"

If you don't think that'll work, you can always substring out the parts you 
want, something like this:

eval column1=%sst(PostCode:Begin1:Len1)
eval column2=%sst(PostCode:Begin2:Len2)
eval PrintedPostCode=%trim(column1) + ' ' + %trim(column2)

I don't think you can mix and match DDS and dynamic screen manager.
