Well, I haven't witnessed this trend. Before accepting it as gospel, you might
spend a little more time looking into market conditions.

Stop by www.ibm.com and search it for AS/400 sites. IBM has a pretty strong web
presence and they certainly announce AS/400 updates.

When I first started working on the IBM midrange line in RPG, about 20 years
ago, I had to listen to the same kind of stuff you are talking about. Back then
the "market trend" was in replacing IBM midrange with DEC Unix machines. I don't
know what those guys are doing for a living now.
