With all due respect, there are a few places where an old-fashioned OPM
RPG programmer *might* view ILE (not RPG IV) to have drawbacks:
1) Lack of system supplied MAKE
2) Lack of system supplied cross-reference tools, to track modules,
service programs, named AG's, etc.
3) More complex development environment
4) More complex runtime environment (OVRxxx scoping, etc.)

Personally, I welcome the changes that ILE brings to the table; we can
finally develop modern applications without having to resort to the tricks
that the simpler OPM environment forced on us. Clearly, in order to do
modern work, we NEED the more complex ILE environment, but a lot of
old-timers will have to work a bit to grasp the possibilities. Those
folks will see ILE's complexity as a disadvantage.

As an aside to Hans, you should know that we'll *never* be satisfied that
IBM have improved the language enough! <grin>
