Hans,

Any reason why source cannot be treated as just another attribute of a program
object? In the majority of cases, programs without source are of little value
(except purchased programs). It would be really nice if the operating system
just kept these things together. This wouldn't have to be the default, just an
option. I see no benefit in forcing a recompile or using an MI utility to
update a programs based on source information when I rename a source library,
etc. Even after doing a recompile and comparing objects, I cannot ever be
assured two programs have been created from a particular source member. Of
course there would need o be some new command, and a few options would need to
be added to the retrieve program information.

Thanks,

David Morris

Considering that it's very likely (IMHO) that no company
will ever offer source recovery services for ILE programs,
will that make a difference in your disaster recovery plan
for your ILE apps?

Cheers! Hans
