Random Number Generation in RPG IV

Hi

I remember a few months ago there was a thread on the MIDRANGE-L list
regarding generating random numbers in ILE RPG. I only have some postings of
that thread that dealt with using date/timestamps to generate "pseudo"
random numbers.

I need to generate random numbers to perform a random selection of records.
We are using V3R7 and ILE RPG IV. I checked on the CD of the softcopy
manuals and saw that there is an API that can be used to generate random
numbers, but I could not find it on the AS/400.

Could someone either post directly to me the definitive answer from the
MIDRANGE-L thread on generating random numbers, or perhaps point me in the
right direction on using an API if it is appropriate.
