Hi Rob,

the only thing I can think of is - that accessing Gmail via Browser uses https (TCP port 443) whereas Gmail via App probably uses IMAP/SSL (TCP port 993).

If the WiFi appliance is configured to "web surfing only" that could be an explanation.

I know of "Guest Network" configurations that are restricted to TCP port 80 and 443 and not allowing any other protocols.

TBH, I really can’t imagine anything that would block accessing gmail on normal residential service, unless it’s explicitly being blocked by the device.

Reverse ping is not a valid reason to block anyone, as most routers have the ability to turn off responding to icmp ping.

I would suggest you try a hard reset of the device and try again.

Also, make sure your phone doesn’t have any MDM installed
