You kind of have to gauge for yourself whether 8GB is enough memory,
but I've never felt uncomfortably constrained with 8GB. Whereas I have
definitely felt hobbled by too-slow drive subsystems.

IMO, any developer should have at least 16gb of memory.

I've got 8gb on my Mac-Mini and it's way too slow.

My Macbook Pro has 16gb and it's fine ... my work laptop, running Win 7,
has 32gb and is great.

Applications expand to use all available memory.
