The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Our internal domain is currently dekko-1. While it follows standards many
OS's and other items snicker at the thought of standards. So we've been
phasing in corp.dekko.com for use internally. So I've been putting some
addresses as A records in both domains. So I'll have a mygadget.dekko-1
and a mygadget.corp.dekko.com both pointing to 10.10.6.172.
It's been suggested to me that I use cname stuff instead. So, since we're
transitioning to corp.dekko.com it makes sense to me to put the A record
in corp.dekko.com and the cname to dekko-1.
So now I have this A record:
Host (uses parent domain if left blank): timbukto
Fully qualified domain name (FQDN): timbukto.corp.dekko.com
IP address: 10.10.6.172
"Update associated pointer (PTR) record" is checked.
I right click on the domain and tell it I want to create a new alias or
CNAME.
Alias name (uses parent domain if left blank): timbukto
Fully qualified domain name (FQDN): timbukto.corp.dekko.com
Fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for target host: timbukto.dekko-1
This results in:
A new record cannot be created.
An alias (CNAME) record cannot be added to this DNS name.
The DNS name contains records that are incompatible with the CNAME record.
