I have an Asustor 202TE.
It's a full 2-bay NAS itself so you can mirror drives, but also supports USB 3.0 connections and it's small.
Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for but it works nicely for me and can also run MySQL Postgres and several other apps.

subject: [PCTECH] USB NAS adapter?
Folks:
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced NAS adapter for external USB hard drives?
I'm looking for something that can support large drives with USB 3 and gigabit network speeds.
Thanks!
