Well, not hearing about it might just mean that people aren't even aware that they are supposed to be getting mail.
There have been a number of occasions when I noticed a list subscriber posting a valid message to one of my lists and my mail server found the address in one of the RBL's it uses.
The person sending the post was totally unaware that their mail server had been listed in a RBL.
FWIW: When my mail server rejects a message because of RBL, it sends a message something like "Rejected - see
http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=151.33.29.133 - questions: david at fallingrock.net". Spammers ignore the message, humans don't.
