My Tivo & blu-ray player are both in the family room, which is over slab, so I can't get a network wire to the area without cutting into walls.
After playing around with wireless for a while (including a wireless bridge that kept crashing after about 2 hours of operation) I decided to give powerline networking a try.
So far it's working well, although the speed is not nearly what I was expecting.
The device (Trendnet, although I forget the model) touts speeds up to 200mbps ... but according to the setup software, I'm only getting 70mbps.
That's better than I was getting before, but not nearly what I was hoping for.
