My wording was not precise enough. I understood that you do not need to connect _to_ your Windows instance with Remote Desktop (i.e. Terminal Services) as you have it running inside a vmware window.

I believe the Remote Desktop _Client_ is available in all versions of Windows.

Anyway, if you need to join a domain the question is settled there :-)
