Hi Peter,
Define: "external harddrive" !!!
But here is my internal LAN with an "external harddrive" which in this
case is a NAS (Network Attached Storage).
1) Two PC's with Win2K (Win5250 and TP770Z)
2) One PC with Win7 (TPZ61M)
3) A NAS (QNAP 209 Pro) box with two 1TB disks (mirrored - Raid1).
To create images from different machines/partitions at #1) #2) I use
Norton Ghost v. 10.0 for #1) and Norton Ghost v. 15.0 for #2)
On the QNAP I have created 3 different folders for #1 (Win5250 and
TP770Z), and for #2 (TPZ61M).
Haven't had any problems using Ghost both ways, as Ghost delivers
the CD as bootable (for recovery). Not that I'm a fan of Symantec, but
in this case they seem to deliver what I need in my scenario. Though
the support from Symantec - if in troubles.... lacks the difinition of the
word "support" ;-)
HTH

Subject: [PCTECH] Creating a PC and a laptop image out to a external drive
Hi list!
I want to do an exact image of my PC and also my laptop, out to an
external harddrive. The PC is Windows XP and the laptop is Windows 7. Can
I have both images on the same external drive? I would think is dangerous
in case the external drive crashes, but I want to make the question
anyway. Second, which software alternative you recommend?
Thank you,
PETER VIDAL
