I just noticed that I have some really weirdly named directories cropping up on my C:\ drive, such as b1fc066e9aafc4d792ef, 9c5f915595478b81b1c8118929, etc. Their properties indicate that they started showing up on 15 August and always at 0300 with variances in the seconds. Plus there is a similarly named directory dates 22 August 2009.

There is nothing in the folders (my view setting in Windows Explorer has "Show Hidden Files and Folders" checked).

There are no scheduled tasks on my PC to run at (or near) that time. And my boss says there is nothing on the file server scheduled for then either. Nor does he have anything resembling this anomaly (have not checked with any of our users).

I am running a scan of my C:\ drive right now, but I wondered if anyone has an idea, clue, or WAG regarding such phenomena.

Thanks.
