I must be in the minority. The batteries in mine also die without warning right in the middle of work, but I move my keyboard out of the way when I'm doing paperwork and that @#$% cord was always rearranging my desk for me. I'll go into someone else's office to help with a problem or whatever. Instead of asking them to let me have the chair, I just say, "Pass the keyboard, please."
No, I'd beat you off with a baseball bat (ash, of course, not aluminum - more professional) if you tried to change mine to a corded keyboard/mouse.
